Welcome

Welcome to the home of the McLean County Radon Awareness Program. Our mission is to reduce radon health risks by providing education, assisting with research, encouraging testing and supporting mitigation. We developed this site to educate residents of McLean county about the possible health risks of prolonged exposure to radon gas. Our message is simple:

What you don't know can hurt you. Test your home for radon. (Radon Awareness Billboard)

Radon Is a Silent Invisible Killer

Radon contributes to thousands of lung cancer related deaths each year. In fact, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today, surpassed only by smoking. Many who have died from radon-induced lung cancer never heard of radon or realized they had a radon problem in their home until they had developed advanced stages of lung cancer.

Protect Yourself and Your Family

Though you can't see or smell radon, you can find out if you have a radon problem in your home by performing a simple, inexpensive test. If testing shows that your home has a radon problem, cost-effective solutions to mitigate radon in your home exist. Explore our site to learn more about how to protect yourself and your family from this serious health threat.
